Glunuig, by the shores of Loch Ailort
Turning off the A830 at Lochailort and heading east on the A861, you will find the tiny community of Glenuig. For much of your journey you will have sea on your right hand side with simply stunning views over to the Small Isles of Rum, Eigg, Muck and, although you won’t see it, Canna!
Access to Glenuig by public road was only made possible in 1966, and mains electricity arrived in 1983.
Central to the village is the relatively new village hall. Beautifully designed and built using lots of sustainable timber, this is one of the most popular entertainment venues on the wets coast. You’ll also find a tiny but busy shop and post office and a variety of accommodation choices in Glenuig, Kinlochmoidart, Roshven and Lochailort.
The Glenuig Inn is a good place to call in for a pint and to check out the lunch or dinner menu. We have heard good reports about their cask ales, so this could be a really good place for a relaxing stay.
